FAQs

I can’t touch my toes! I’m not flexible! Can I still come?

Yes—we are all at different places within our bodies. And increasing flexibility is one of the goals in yoga. You're not expected to ALREADY be flexible! Come explore ways to playfully and mindfully increase your flexibility. No judgments here. We welcome you as you are. And you'll find once you attend class, that you pay way more attention to yourself than you do to anyone else in class. So you can relax knowing that everyone is focused on themselves more than you, and everyone has been where you are right now.

Are these classes just for gay men?

Men from all walks of life that have the desire to wake up into a more vibrant and exciting way of being in this world are welcome to attend the class. Curiosity and desire to change grow and evolve are what unites us with this practice. This is an actively gay-positive space, and if you can be comfortable in this environment, join us and you'll learn a lot and grow with us.

How often should I do yoga?

In general you begin to see the true benefits of yoga with a practice of at least 2 days per week. If you're unable to attend 2 classes, get a DVD and practice at home when you can. We encourage you to find other classes around town too that fit your schedule. To see more rapid and radical change, aim towards a daily practice, with one day off per week. Michael and Tony both practice 6 days/week.

It is also important to not be dogmatic with yourself and your practice. Practice as often as your body is asking for it. But take the time to get to know your body and find ways of healing, awakening, and restoring it. You will know how much yoga will be good for you, and you'll know when it is time to rest, and recover. Listen, learn, and grow.

What do I need to do to prepare for class?

Please arrive clean and drug-free, and bring your own mat and props. We will not supply mats or props for hygienic reasons. Although we don't want to, know that we will ask you politely to leave if you show disrespect for the space or for your classmates. We have one shower for you to use before or after class.

Is this Class only for athletic people?

Any bodies, ages, shapes and sizes are welcome to the Beginner Class. However, please understand that yoga is physical exercise. Come prepared to work, stretch, and sweat a little. For the All Levels class, please have at least 6 months of yoga experience, or an athletic background.

Is this class sexual?

Although the class isn't sexual (there will be no sexual acts performed in this class, either alone or with a partner) sexual feelings may arise. You are encouraged to feel them, explore them internally, and share them verbally when appropriate.
